Chinese mining giant CMOC Group has resolved a royalty payments dispute with a major miner in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, successfully negotiating the complex political environment in the central African country. Shares in CMOC, which is listed on both the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges, surged on the news that it had settled the 10-month dispute with state-owned Gecamines over royalties from its giant Tenke Fungurume copper and cobalt mine.
